WHAT IS DRAYAGE?

The Link Between Terminals and Your Facility

Drayage is the transportation of shipping containers between ports or rail terminals and nearby warehouses, distribution centres, cross-dock facilities or customer locations. It connects ocean or rail freight with the next stage of inland transportation.

Drayage supports both import containers leaving a terminal and export containers moving toward a port or rail terminal. Unlike long-distance trucking, drayage covers short movements within a terminal's surrounding market.
